As of January 2025, Lufthansa has quietly rolled out several passenger-friendly improvements that most travellers still don’t know about:
Lufthansa introduced a brand-new “Rebooker” fare in Economy and Premium Economy on long-haul routes, priced only €30–€70 above Classic but includes one completely free change + €0 fare difference if the same booking class exists. Perfect for uncertain plans.
HON Circle and Senator members can now switch to any earlier or later flight on the same day and route at the gate without speaking to an agent, just scan your Miles & More card at the self-service kiosk.
If your desired new date is expensive, first change to a cheap date (paying €0 fee on Flex/Business), then immediately upgrade that new flight to Business/First using miles or cash, often cheaper than paying the high Economy fare difference.
If your eVoucher is about to expire, book any future flight (even €49 one-way within Europe) and cancel it within 24 hours, Lufthansa automatically issues a new 2-year voucher from the cancellation date.
On Miles & More awards, changing to a SWISS or Austrian flight on the same route is completely free (even for non-elites) because they fall under “Lufthansa Group rebooking privilege”.
